Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark greenish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey sand.
Notes:   6492 is, once again, dark, moist loosely compacted clayey soil. The texture is sandy, with large particles. Panos says it is easy to dig through and that it is soft. The dirt in the buckets matches this description. There are some large chunks of dark grey clay appearing in the soil.
This context was closed at 74.31(depth of 10.60 m), after .32 m of excavation. Wells went down the well at this point. At this level, the well is .95 m across E-W and .97 m N-S. Looking up at the sides from this depth, the sides undulate in and out so that the shaft of the well is more narrow at some places. The footholes are still present, every .40 m.
Also at 74.31, the soil is very damp and when scraped with a pick, it lumps together or is flattened out. Wells notes that although the soil is soft, it is very compact when it is still in the well, and is very heavy due to the moisture.
Inclusions: looking at the soil in the well at 74.31, the inclusions are few, maybe 5-10%, and poorly sorted.
