Stratum: | 5-15% tile fragments, small to medium angular spherical/tabular cobbles, few bones in small fragments, snails, building plaster
Description: | Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes: | This context was located under 6580 in the north and 6569 in the south. We excavated it during our exploration of a N-S robbing trench to determine its relations to the pier foundation and its robbing trench. The fill in this context was rather mixed, with some parts having very few inclusions: almost no pottery, bones or cobbles. The lower portion of the context had a much higher concentration of mixed inclusions (bones, tiles, jagged angular platy cobbles, building plaster of varying fabrics). The context was excavated 52 cm and came down on an area .80 m x .60 m of tile and rocky fill inside a cut to the south and reaching an E-W wall on the north. To the east and west, fill extends into the earth below the level of the bottom of the rt cut. 6581 was closed at this point, and since we are now at a level below everything else in the room, we will not be returning to this area this season.
