Notes:   Context 6800 is a surface of compact earth covering most of the northern part of the room west of the courtyard of the Byzantine house. It is truncated by cuts 6761, 6796, and 6798. Context 6800 also continues north beneath wall 5725 and west under wall 5724. It was revealed during the excavation of context 6793. Context 6800 contains large amounts of charcoal and also appears to be fairly shallow. Very little soil had to be removed before coming down on a suface of white marly clay. To the west of this is a thin surface of reddish soil which was also revealed.
The soil is dark reddish brown clayey silt with 5% inclusions (pottery, metal, roots, stones).
