Description: | Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light greyish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes: | Context 6846 was opened to investigate features uncovered in excavation of fill 6842, as well as determine relationship between fill and vaious wall construction phases and the tile flooring visible in NE corner of context. The floor: 29x29cm square tiles. Four complete tiles in situ. This context was closed upon the discovery of a distinct fill in a cut on the NW side of 6846, abutting wall 6526. It is unclear what the relationship is between the tiles, the room, the walls, and context 6846. Only four complete tiles were found and these were in situ; no other fragments of the same tile were found in the remainder of the context. Perhaps most of the tiles were removed and the area filled in - but if so it is unclear why four tiles were left. LATER NOTE: (DPG 10-05-10) Excavation of tiles revealed that they were not part of a floor surface, but rather the top of a tile-built pit grave (6581).
