Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the E. The soil color is dark greyish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey sand.
Notes:   6872 was opened after excavation of 6871 revealed soil changes - particularly, reddish soil abutting wall 6526 and rubble ot the south of context 6872. 6872 was elevated above these soils (at its western end), and so it was decided to excavate it first. As excavation proceeded, two coins were found, as well as iron and glass. At the western end of the context was revealed a pile of tiles in visibly redder soil. In the central area of the context was revealed soil with a greater amount of visible charcoal. 6872 was closed and this latter portions was opened as 6874. 6872 appears to be dumped fill covering part of the room north of the courtyard.
