Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   Context 6897 was opened to continue excavation of the fill of the tile-built pithos (6991) in the room NW of the courtyard in the Byzantine house. 6880 (the previous context excavating the fill of this pithos) was closed to allow removal of the pithos structure, since it was hampering any further excavation of the fill inside the pithos. The soil in 6897 is redder and slightly darker than 6880, with larger bone fragments. 6897 was closed when the tile-lined bottom of the pithos was revealed.
