| Description: | Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey silt. | |
| Notes: | Excavation of 6951 (in cut 6945) and 6952 revealed another E-W cut S of wall 5562 in the room NW of the courtyard in the Byzantine house. We opened 6957 as the fill of this cut, initially theorizing that this was a foundation trench for an earlier phase of wall 5562. We had observed two foundation trenches in the room N of the courtyard for the same wall (cf. notes on 5562). Excavation proceeded, revealing an irregularly shaped cut, which will be recorded as 6959. | |
