We are excavating to find out if there is a continuous stratum of soil directly to the east and west, in the hopes that we will better understand the relationship between the different layers of ash to each other and to he structures in this area. We have found the same soft ashy fill under 6995 as the context that runs directly to the south of wall 6985.
