Description:   The soil color is light brownish yellow. The soil compaction is hard. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   Excavation began on the narrow balk in the W area, along the W scarp. Prior to excavation, it was clear that this context was cut by robbing trench of 747 to the S, and by pit 860 to the N. The W side is bounded by the W scarp. Once digging started, it became clear that the W side of 863 was just a thin lens of soil over a rocky white strip along the scarp that continues N in the area, and most likely under the scarp. We then concentrated on the E side, where the dry, hard-packed soil continues to go down.
