Description:   The soil color is dark reddish black. The soil compaction is hard. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   With the soft red 922 removed, we proceeded to excavate 925. It is composed of hard, black soil with a good amount of tile, pottery, and rocks within. From the profile in the S side of cut 870 (for fill 844), Thanasi indicated that the tile-rich 925 runs deep and may extend to around the SW and W sides of cut 870.
It is now near quitting time. 925 has now been levelled with the NW-SE scarp dividing the robbers'trench and cut 870, but it has not yet been levelled to the bottom of 922.
13 June 2012
This morning we continued excavating 925. The compaction of this fill appears quite firm. It is very poorly sorted, we did not find any tiles and bones. While we were digging this context it became clear that this fill is made of a mixture of black and reddish soil. This context seems to expand all around pit 844 on its S side. Because of its big dimention and because these are the last days of excavations in 2012 we continued digging this context, giving it arbitrary edges. This made us name this fill with a new context number (927).
