April 10 2013- excavators Dan Diffendale and Mohammed Bhatti
The floor was originally discovered last year, but excavation was not carried out due to wall 540, which truncated the floor. The removal of 540 opened up the area. The floor is bound by wall 992 to the N and wall 807 to the S. Deposit 1022 is the removal of the floor. Tasos noticed that the soil around the hearth (1021) was much softer; perhaps a continuation of the hearth. It also appeared to be more ashy.
