Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1110
Context:   521
Date:   2016/05/11
Lot:   Lot 2016-040
Stratum:   sherds (many trampled in), fine to coarse spherical to tabular rounded to angular pebbles, some cobbles
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   this appears to be another lens of the same surface as 517 and 520, though it was somewhat thicker than they. After removing this layer,m we discovered yet another layer, but its relationship to the cobbly layer and to that with coarse pebbles is unclear.
Thanasis thought that they cobbly layer might be a wall associated with the surface, but to us the cobbles seem too small.
28/5/2016 we currently interpret this surface as one lens of an EH metaled road.
