Stratum:   mostly fine to coarse pebbles, a couple cobbles, mostly subrounded to angular, a few rounded, spherical to tabular
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silt.
Notes:   initially we thought thatthis deposit was part of the surface that runs beneath it. But full removal of 538 made it clear that 539 isnot a surface, but more fill associated with 538. the largely intact cup we found in 538 was on top of this layer of fill, not the surface below it.
