Context:   158
Date:   2014/04/24
Stratum:   15% medium rounded and subrounded boulders, large angular pebbles, ceramic fragments
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light brownish black. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This pit was filled mostly with stones. It was first revealed by the removal of the martyr and the cut made more clear by the removal of Deposit 152. It is difficult to tell the turn nature of this pit because of the wall reconstructions. It appears that it is truncated to the east by the wall. When the fillw as removed it revealed the same courtyard floor that slopes down to the east. It also abuts structure 94 to the south and its removal did not reveal the bottom of the structure. It is most likely that these stones and minimal fill were dumped into this cut to level the courtyard. Thus it is less like a cut and more like a slope of the surface. The fill of stones can be seen under the recostructed west wall of Unit 2 Room 3.
Upon further reflection, there is no cut here but another slope in the courtyard and this deposit was fill within the slope. This is truncated not by the wall reconstruction, but by the robber's trench for Wall II (B. 1, NB 853, p. 11).
