Title:   General fill N of unit 2, room H
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1108
Context:   198
Date:   2014/05/06
Stratum:   Inclusions of stones, tiles, pottery, and bone (approximately 15%)
Description:   The soil color is very dark reddish mixed. The soil compaction is very soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We begin by removing the top layer of soil directly to the W of the N-S cut lying at approximately 104.30 E. We hypothesize that this cut is the scarp of a trench from a previous excavation. We are removing this fill to help anser this question and clarify the nature of the cut.
The soil is very soft with the same inclusions but is quite mixed in color. It ranges from very dark to dark brown to brownish red with patches of white. The red soil with lighter patches is characteristic of that near the bedrock, so we are liekly seeing earth from a backfill.
We continue removing this fill with big picks periodically for the remainder of session II.
