Title:   Bone Jumble in Grave 2016-07
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1110
Context:   992
Date:   2016/06/01
Notes:   This jumble of bones was found mixed a little above, below, and to the south of the articulated left leg and foot in the NE portion of Grave 2016-07. It likely extends further to the west. Two crania have been found along the southeast edge.
2016/06/02 - Bones in the jumble include: right femur (laying on and adjacent to Context 991), R tibia, os coxa, R clavicle (list to be continued). On 06/01, many small iron balls were found among the jumble in the east end. Although bones were pressed against the tile jumble in the east end, not many large bones or fragments were among the tile jumble. It seems they mostly laid against or on top of the soil and the tile. Beneath the tile there is a fibula on the northeast side. Other elements coming out are R humerus , L humerus, R os coxa, L tibia, Fibula, L clavicle, R tibia, L tibia. A mandible was found on top of a sacrum, on top of the east skull of the two along the SE end. Both skulls are essentially oriented with their faces down. One appears to be a probable female based on gracile mastoid process and small nuchal crest.

More of the iron (or other metal) was found after the removal of 992 was complete in the soil just beyond the feet of 994, direclty under where the rest of 992's "jewlrey" (belt?) was recovered. It should most likely be associated with 992, although taken out with fill 989. Nicol suggests it is a belt, rather than a necklace.
