Title:   Cut for Grave 2016-07
Notebook:   1110
Context:   993
Date:   2016/06/02
Description:   The context shape in plan is sub-rectangular. The top break of the cut is sharp. The sides of the cut are vertical. The break at the base of the cut is sharp. The base of the cut is flat. Truncation: This cut likely truncated cut 1000.
Notes:   This is the cut for Grave 2016-07 in the middle portion of the south aisle of the church. The north, west, and east sides of the cut correspond with all or portions of thoese sides of cut 985. It is possible that this cut started with the top elevation of cut 985, but was not seen due to bioturbation and activity on the surface for almost 30 years since the 1990 field season. This cut is larger than would be required for the primary inhumation (994) found within it. Additionally the arrangement of the articulated foot and fibular (991) in the NE corner of the cut suggests that these remains were truncated by a different cut, possibly the E end of one intended for the primary inhumation (994). This is the cut for potentially many different burial events. The cut does not include the limits of the stones on the northern side of the grave which indicates that these stones were placed prior to this cut.
2016/06/06: The bottom of this cut was found with the removal of inhumation 994 and bone pile 996. At the bottom we found the partically articulated thorax of another individual with a different associated cut (Context 1000).
