Description: | Acanthus column shaft consisting of two tiers of acanthus leaves superimposed on fluted shaft. Lower tier H00.733. Flutes deeply concave with round tips and double-edged arrises; 2 arrises visible between each pair of leaves. 4 acanthus leaves, each leaf having 13 lobes, edges of which rounded and fluted, with central rib in relief. 2nd tier H01.10, lower two-thirds of which covered by ring of leaves that mask flutes. Outer layer consists of 5 large acanthus leaves, overlying underlying layer. Each leaf has 11 lobes, each lobe round-tipped and fluted with central rib. Above, flutes as below. Bottom surface worked with fine claw, central rectangular cutting 00.05 x 00.058, depth 00.075. Top: finely worked with claw, round cutting D00.055, Depth 00.055.
