Decoration: | Upright flying Nike on deep purplish red ground;wings extend behind; head is 3/4 lt; torso turns lt, rt. thigh is in partial profile; rt. arm crosses upper body to lt; rt hand holds laurel crown; . Rt wing begins out of foreshortened rt shoulder; line of creamy white paint forms upper border of wing. Dashes of blue, green and lime paint create feathers. Lt wing rises behind head. Traces of laurel crown are above her dark brown hair. Rt jaw is shadowed by gray paint to indicate torsion of neck. Green and white lines of paint above her rt arm may be traces of palm branch held in lt hand. She wears a peplos belted at the waist and more clearly above the thigh. Active movement of leg forces peplos to reveal upper thigh. Folds of peplos highlighted w/ violet and pink paint; concentration of pink, violet, blue, green and black paint above thigh. Green mantle which hung off lt arm encircles waist and appears on rt side. Ca. 0.28 m. of free field to lt. of rt. wing | |
