Description: | Column carved like a palm tree, with overlapping rows of blunt-ended leaves covering trunk. On top is a rectangular capital at top, round at its base, set well in from circumference of column, top of which is roughly picked. Capital decorated with row of erect palm fronds, at base of which a second lower row of seed pods (?) making a round clump on a tall tapering stalk. Between these stalks background of capital faceted. One side of capital later cut away. RLScranton describes frieze of ibis birds and papyrus plants. | |
