Description:   Plate with heavy vertical ring foot, narrow rounded resting surface, flat undersurface. Body flaring with nearly straight profile at ca. 20 degrees to upturned flattened lip. Paring marks on body exterior.
Decoration:   Incised-Sgraffito, Free-Style, as Corinth XI, cat. no. 1558, pl. 51h. White slip on interior and overlapping lip. Incised decoration covering interior: front half of centaur facing rt. with rt. hand raised and holding sword over head, lt. hand holds long oval shield out to proper lt. Centaur has shoulder-length curling hair, large incised eye; bust and arms cross-hatched, body and legs covered with large deep dots. Shield cross-hatched with two deep grooves down center. Between legs and shield head of serpent-dragon, tail curling above sword, head outlined, neck cross-hatched. Floral spike between legs and above rt. arm. Yellow glaze all over, thicker inside to over lip outside.
Material:   Semi-fine clay fired pinkish-buff at outer surface, gray-buff in, with frequent fine to coarse voids, fewer fine white inclusions. Clay Temper A3

Condition:   Complete profile. Fourteen joining frgts., complete profile; over half foot, 2/5 body and lip.
