| Description: | Large platter with very shallow, widely flaring body ending in plain lip with knicked edge. Cream to white slip over interior and exterior to somwhere above foot. | |
| Decoration: | Very broad band below lip with relief impressions: at left, seated nude figure, in profile to right, left leg slightly behind right, right elbow resting on knee, hand holding bent head. Hair falls down back with separate curl (?) over right shoulder. Large curving object just beyond right arm. To right a cypress tree with bent tip; below figure a lots-like plant; medallion to right shows lion (?) attacking bull: head of lion turned back and up, mouth partly open, short strokes for fur, with four long petal-like projections to left; bull has head turned up, legs folded beneath body, stipples on body; from upper right corner a human head reaches down to bull's body; arm partly covered with sleeve with horizontal folds, and more long petal-like rays covering upper part. Both scenes framed by arching sgraffito lines; upper part of band filled with broad rinceau design on pricked ground. Light green glaze on interior and upper edge of exterior, Knicks dark where cut into clay. Biblical scenes ? Adam or Eve ? expulsion from Eden. | |
