Description:   Articulated kantharos with flaring ring foot. Flat resting surface. Conical underside with nipple in center. Exterior of foot has profile wheel grooved in two degrees. Biconical body with rounded carination set at approx. two-thirds height of body. Lower walls convex. Upper walls are inclined with compound curve moving from convex to concave. Lip tapered and outturned. Two vertical strap spur handles with mouldmade applique of bearded face with open mouth (mask?) at arch of strap handle. Handles attach just below lip and at mid upper body.
Decoration:   Black glaze over all. Wide groove at carination. Wide groove just below lip. Sides A & B: running ivy garland with leaves and ties at each end in added paint in middle of handle zone.
Material:   fine light red clay with rare fine to small sparkling inclusions and rare large black inclusions
Munsell Color:   10R 7/6 light red
Condition:   Complete profile. Several joining frgts., preserving all of foot except chips, two-thirds of body, half of lip, and both handles. RIP. Black glaze partly worn. Negative image of added paint in handle zone.
