Description:   Amphora with a long cylindrical body tapering slightly to a rounded toe. Two small rounded vertical strap handles attached at upper body and neck. Similar to Peacock and Williams Class 49 (1986, p. 198 fig. 116) and Riley D151-156 (Benghazi II 1984, fig. 92).
Decoration:   Prominent wheel ridging at toe and below lower handle attachment. White slip on entire exterior.
Writing:   dipinto. Surface from lower handle attachment to top of toe covered in letters and illegible symbols in several registers painted in red. Greek: HGESIES
Material:   Coarse hackly pink clay with rare, large rounded and subrounded spherical white inclusions, frequent very small subrounded platy brown inclusions and rare small angular tabular yellow inclusions with rare small to medium voids
Munsell Color:   Surface 10YR 8/3 (v pale brown); Core 5YR 6/6 (reddish yellow)
Condition:   Fragment. Twelve joining frgts., preserve one-fourth of the body and part of one handle.
