Description:   Fruitstand pedestal with spherical bowl, cylindrical stem. See Phelps 2004: 88-89 for discussion of shape in matt-painted ware; cf. C-1970-298A, C-2016-8, and C-2016-10.
Decoration:   Very pale brown slip overall exterior and interior bottom of bowl. Single thick brown line runs around top of pedestal, just below where meets bowl. Down pedestal run two line motifs: two wavy parallel lines 0.004-0.01 apart; two straight parallel lines 0.018 apart, with diagonal lines in between. Top three diagonal lines slant down to right; two below slant down to left, solid triangle between top and lower diagonal lines. On matt-painted decoration, see Phelps 2004: 93-94.
Material:   Coarse pinkish clay with frequent medium to very large, angular spherical and tabular inclusions.
Munsell Color:   Fabric: 5YR 7/3 (pink), Surface (slip): 10YR 8/2 (very pale brown)
Condition:   Fragment. Single frgt., preserving top of pedestal and bottom of bowl (1/3 circumference); granular breaks along all edges.
