Title:   EARLY HELLADIC III PATTERNED WARE TANKARD

Description:   Tankard. Ovoid body reaches max. diameter just above base, body tapers to large outturned lip. Large vertical strap handle attached at point of max. diameter.
Decoration:   Exterior slipped and painted. Lower set of four bands consists of (bottom to top) one plain band below handles,a pair of bands joined by short oblique strokes, one feathered band. Upper set of four bands at midbody consists of (bottom to top) one plain band, a pair of bands joining by a series of wide vertical bars, one plain band. Feathered band at base of neck, one plain band at rim. Handle has short horizontal bands across the upper part and the lower part has vertical lines. Interior of rim has three plain parallel bands. EH III Patterned Ware Style. Decoration identical to Lerna IV P 365.
