Description: | Bowl with vertical body. Base, moulded, is slightly angled from the body to a false ring foot. Rim is squared and slightly everted with moulding below. Interior curves slightly outward. | |
Decoration: | Clay is darkened in firing and has a dull greenish-buff glaze. Upper moulding near rim is decorated with two grooves, as is lower moulding. On body, from left to right, part of a thyrsos, male figure (satyr) moving to the right with one arm upraised; woman with long garment reaching towards a tree or vine, altar with round object atop to her left and vessel on the ground to the right; figure (satyr?) plucks fruit from a tree; behind him, a table with objects (fruit?). Trees inbetween figurs and scenes. Corresponds to Spitzer's Type III, Fig. c, d, and e. | |
