Description: | Antefix, attached in back to long neck so as to hook over sima. Consists of a rectangular panel at bottom, sides of which close inward slightly. Above this a palmette,inset from panel, with 1 complete petal at bottom lt., part of 1 at rt., with angular heart, in center of which an upside down V in relief; from heart descends a narrow stem, beneath which an inverted lotus, and to either side of which an S-shaped scroll, each composed of double fillets, and ending in two small upright scrolls with petal in angle; in angle between large scrolls and lotus are half palmettes. | |
Material: | Light red clay with frequent fine to small red mudstone inclusions, rare white.; finer surface layer. | |
