Description:   Upper left side of lionhead from sima of 6th c. temple. Slight traces of the interior of the left ear, of the 'flame locks' in front of the ear and of the smaller locks of the mane which emerge at the left side and across the forehead. The mass of flame locks and the smaller side locks join at an angle. At the back part of the "roof of the mouth" is preserved. On the front, part of the surface of the face survives, marked by small dark brown dots, 7.5YR 4/4. Black in ear, 7.5YR N2/. Cf. FS 1079 for second spout. Cf. Material:   Hard coarse clay with numerous small and a few large inclusions (up to 4 mm). Fine slip, to 5 mm. thick. Clay and slip light gray to pale yellow.

Condition:   Fragment. Single fragment, preserving upper left side of face. Surface largely chipped away.
