Description:   Sima with vertical face decorated in relief with pairs of spirals on either side of lion-head spout. Spirals are linked; those to rt. of spout curl counter clockwise, the single spiral preserved to lt. of spout curls clockwise; solid eyes; separting spirals of each pair are two 3-petalled buds, one projecting up, other pendant. Above, fillet and ovolo, H00.041, projection 00.020, decorated in relief with egg-dart; above narrow fascia or fillet H00.009. Top flat, W00.060. Rt. joint smooth, with pan tile set in slightly. Outline of spout between spirals.
Decoration:   Decoration in dull streaky red-brown paint: entire background of vertical face, leaving relief reserved with white slip; on central eyes.
Material:   Coarse clay fired salmon at core, buff at surface, with numerous fine to coarser red angular inclusions.
Munsell Color:   Surface between 10YR 7/3 (slightly yellower than) and 10YR 7/4
Condition:   Fragment. 1992: two joining frgts., preserving right 4/5 of block, from above base fascia to top, right edge; broken at left, missing spout. Surface paint worn.
