Description: | Kotyle with irregular disk foot, slightly convex body, vertical rounded lip; handle attachments at level of lip. Several globs of clay adhering to both interior and exterior. Stillwell and Benson 1984, Corinth 15.3, p. 253, suggest this vessel may have been made by apprentice. Shape and size similar to KV-388 (Stillwell and Benson 1984, Corinth 15.3, cat. 1720). | |
Decoration: | String marks on base, wheelmarks and smoothing marks visible throughout; thin, patchy black glaze on resting surface and interior, irregular dots of glaze along exterior of lip, few scattered drips and blobs. | |
Material: | Fine very pale brown clay with few medium, subrounded pink inclusions and few medium voids. | |
