Description: | Bowl with flaring ring base, tapered resting surface, round bottom, and hemispherical body. | |
Decoration: | White slip and clear glaze inside. Incised in slip two tear drop shaped features on bottom with small semi-circle next to each. Tear drop incised inside bigger tear drops. Reddish brown dots in spaces of tear drops and one in each semi-circle. Four dots next to tear drops possibly from third tear drop. On wall are two semicircles and three reddish brown dots from another feature now lost. Large spot of metallic clear glaze on left side over part of tear drop. Technique similar to C-1930-24 and Lot 645 : 3. | |
Material: | Coarse very pale brown clay, common medium to very large rounded spherical brown, reddish brown, gray, black and white inclusions, frequent medium voids. Similar to White’s Clay Temper Group A2. | |
