Description: | Mask with elaborate coiffure and a large, fancy hair or forehead ornamen at the center. The coiffure is composed of a layer of five diagonal locks, each lock is marked with diagonal grooves. Toward the center, beneath this layer, is one vertical lock with diagonal grooves next to a more lightly modeled one with no grooves which might possibly be a small horn. Back is hollow and smooth. Decoration: | The ornament is tongue-shaped and consists of a parallel border enclosing an oval and a square at its center. A round suspension hole is at the top of the ornament. Black paint on hair, red on eyebrow and ornament's border. | |
Material: | Fine clay, gray, red, and white pebbly inclusions, numerous voids. | |
