Description:   Head of old woman juts forward, suggesting that shoulder originally were hunched; chin may have been raised somewhat. Back handmade, rounded. Added: veil, hair at sides. Face oblong to oval. Forehead has one horizontal furrow and two short, vertical frown marks between the eyes; high, prominent cheekbones, sunken cheeksl sagging flesh beneath jaw. Eyes level, almond shapes; lids not defined; browridge prominent. Mouth down-turned, sunken, without lips, as if toothless. Veil is probably a mantle carried over the head, pleat at the top center. Well-made piece.
Decoration:   White slip on veil.
Material:   Fabric 1, orange buff, without noticeable inclusions
Munsell Color:   7.5 YR 7/5.5
Condition:   Fragment. Single frgt., preserving head and part of neck. MIssing veil at both sides below cheeks.
Period:   4th c. B.C.
