Description: | Terracotta figurine of standing nude male (satyr). Left arm bent backwards with hand resting on small of back, with fingers and fingernail on thumb rendered in black paint or slip. Left elbow embellished with black paint or slip. Right arm apparently raised above head. Torso somewhat contorted toward left, with belly projecting slightly. Anatomical details of torso (pectoral muscles, abdominal muscles, belly button, etc.) rendered in black slip or paint, with additional decoration in black paint or slip. Nipples added in red. Male genitalia rendered plastically with small pieces of clay; tip of penis painted red, pubic hair added in black. Right leg splayed outward, details added in black and hoof or shoe painted red. At back, tail projects outward, forming a tripod with legs. Group of similar figurines found in Potters' Quarter (according to Corinth 12). Type common elsewhere: see H.B.
