Description: | Bead with shape of flattened sphere. Iron wire or rod through bead added while still hot, forming hoop or hook. Similar to glass bead MF-6937 (Davidson 1952, Corinth 12, cat. 2468) from 13th-15th c. context. Probably for use as button for garment, less common than bronze button, and likely 13th-14th c. based on an unpublished find from northern Greece, according to T. Antonaras. Update 2017/06/25: T.
