Title:   LATE NEOLITHIC MATT-PAINTED SEATED STEATOPYGOUS FIGURINE

Description:   Seated female figurine with wide waste, wide (outstreched?) thigh, and torso tapering toward top. Bottom probably flat, curving outward slightly from thigh to wider buttock. Back mostly flat, flaring out very slightly near base to represent flesh of buttock. Similar in size and shape to MF-9944.
Decoration:   Light slip over entire surface. Two parallel horizontal matt-painted bands on back near bottom. Two fine incisions running from hip across waist representing belly creases with white matt paint preserved inside. Similar incision with white paint on MF-2016-55.
Material:   Pink clay with common fine to small black shiny and matt angular to sub-rounded spherical tabular and rare small to medium dark gray subrounded angular inclusions.
Munsell Color:   Slip: 2.5Y 8/2 (pale yellow); Fabric: 7.5 YR 8/4 (pink)
Condition:   Fragment. Single frgt., preserving proper left side, small portion of thigh and torso; bottom chipped. Poorly preserved paint on back; cream slip well preserved.
