Description:   Mouldmade terracotta figurine of grotesque male figure, possibly part of bust. Face oblong. Hair short with deep vertical grooves framing forehead. Forehead rectangular with high furrowed V-shaped brow, prominent brow ridge, wide set eyes, large, wide, flat nose with pointed tip and huge flaring nostrils. Pronounced cheekbones. Large, bow-shaped mouth, with curling upper lip and large, fleshy, rounded chin. Face flattens at cheeks to edge where a flat smooth band perpendicular to the face runs around head masking join on exterior. Back round, moulded separately. Figurine hollow. Join visible along left side in interior. Similar to Mime Head Type (Athenian Agora VI, p. 79 pl. 29, no. 1043). Clay similar to MF-5524.and MF81-52.
Decoration:   Gray slip on hair and back of head. Brown slip over face.
Material:   Coarse red clay with a reddish gray core with common very large spherical angular white, frequent large tabular angular black, frequent large tabular angular gray, and few fine sparkling inclusions and few large platy angular voids
Munsell Color:   Surface: 2.5YR 5/8 (red), Core: 2.5YR 5/1 (reddish gray), Slip: 5 YR 4/2 (dark reddish gray) and 7.5YR 5/6 (strong brown)
Condition:   Fragment. Two joining frgts., preserving face and third of back of head, broken along right side of face and across chin. Slip preserved throughout.
