Description:   Hollow rectangular portable alter with crude triple stepped base moulding and flat side panels with relief decoration on one (?) side raised on a plaque 0.002 above surface. Base moulding: Faschia (H. 0.007, Fascia (H. 0.005), Fascia (H 0.007).
Decoration:   Dionysos maenad and satyr type. on left side three standing figures are portrayed in relief. On the left a maenad turns to the right and draws the face if the central figure toward her own. The nude, frontally-posed central figure, dionysos, is flanked on the right side by a draped satyr who steps out from behind him and turns to the left. Related to tarentine alter by form and subject. (Melanges D'Archeologie et D'Histoire 1929, 68-69, Pl II-1) and subject parallels on Megarian bowls (AJA 1941, PL. I A-1).
Material:   Evenly fired red clay
Munsell Color:   5yr 6/6
Condition:   Complete profile. Two joining fragments preserve a front corner, with bottom edge, base moulding (complete profile), most of left side panel with relief decoration, and part of right panel. Interior surface preserved with traces of second corner.
