Description:   Fragment of small bronze balance pivot consisting of two thin prongs, square in section in the middle and flattened to face each other at the end, where there are traces of holes for missing pivot pin. Prongs flattened at top and attached to small rectangular plate with slightly curved top and bottom edges. Small triangular projection from top of metal plate pierced with hole through which suspension ring passes. Published in Corinth XII, p. 282, #2288 as a hairpin, but cf. Sarachane I, p. 257, #466, MF 1227, and MF 7358 for balance pivots of similar form and size.
Decoration:   On both sides of rectangular plate, five incised dots in a horizontal line in center and two more in upper corners. Bottom of plate between prongs slightly notched several times. Cf. MF 3063 for similar decoration.
Material:   Bronze
Condition:   Missing parts. Single fragment preserves prongs and upper part of balance pivot, including attached ring for hanging balance; prongs broken at top of holes for pivot pin. One prong slightly bent.
