Description: | Portrait head, life-sized, broken at neck; head turned slightly to proper r; veil over head folded several times, forming small omega-fold at center top, hanging down on either side of face; hair gathered in short curling locks over forehead with two opposing locks on either side of central part curving outward; small side locks of hair in front of ears; short locks down nape of neck; wispy beard on cheeks and underside of chin; broad forehead, sharp brow ridges; large deep-set eyes with prominent upper lids, upper extending well beyond lower lid, pupils not incised; long boney nose; straight mouth; large ears protruding from head; skin surface very finely smoothed and lightly polished; some rasp marks visible at edges; drill work in drapery; back roughly worked with flat chisel; variously identified as Tiberius, Caligula, Drusus son of Germanicus, Agrippa Postumus, Drusus son of Tiberius, Nero. | |
