Description: | Standing female with weight on l. leg, r. leg bent and slightly back, socket for insertion of head follows edge of chiton neckline (maxW 00.23); l. arm bent at elbow and extended forward at 90 deg angle, r. upper arm at side; wears Ionic chiton w/ buttoned sleeves, himation over l. shoulder, around back, crossing front of body horizontally and over l. arm; scalloped edge of himation visible on l. side; himation reaches to ankles, chiton visible beneath; chiton touches top of feet and reaches to ground in back, gathered in small flat folds; little texture difference rendered betweenmaterial of garments; wears yoke-type sandals with loops of straps visible under feet at sides, thick sole (0.025), front of sole trapezoidal; plinth cut straight across front, then follows contours of statue; surface has smooth finish, rasp marks visible on drapery, skin of feet highly polished, back roughly worked, drill channels in folds of chiton, undercutting of chiton hem, plinth surface worked with flat chisel. | |
