Description: | Statue of Artemis, standing with weight on r. leg, l. leg relaxed to side and back; wears Doric peplos, clasped on both shoulders, belted above waist, with kolpos and overfold at waist level in front, lower in back; peplos hem reaches top of feet and to ground in back; quiver strap crosses from r. shoulder across l. breast (quiver missing); wears yoke-type sandals (visible on l. foot) with high sole (2 cm). Rasp marks on drapery, skin surfaces highly polished; drill work in folds and under peplos hem; fully worked in back; plinth broken at r; flat or bull-nosed chisel marks on plinth; Roman copy/rendition of type c. 425-420 BC. | |
