Description:   Figure is seated on a rock, feet resting on a lion, right foot slightly more advanced. Left arm raised, right one extends down and a little forward. She wears chiton and peplos, and a himation which falls before the left shoulder. On rock is archaistic triple Hecate in relief, on left side a representation of a pine tree with a syrinx leaning against it. Identified as Cybele.
Redescribed: Small scale draped female seated on rock. Right arm at side and slightly forward, left raised out to side. Feet rest on a recumbant lion, whose head turned to front. Both feet pointed out slightly with rt. foot advanced. Hair long, with mass of wavy strands down back, two locks over each shoulder. She wears a long Ionic chiton with buttons along rt. sleeve. Belted at waist, with kolpos hiding belt. A thicker himation hangs diagonally from left shoulder, covering lap and lower legs to just above ankles. Upper edge of himation bunched in deep narrow folds across lap; diagonal folds radiating from lt. knee. Beneath himation hem are narrow vertical folds of chiton. Proper rt. side of rock decorated with archaistic triple Hekate in low relief, front Hekate wears belted peplos with zigzag folds along edge of overfold and central stacked fold below bels, rt. side of face missing. On left side of rock, a pine tree, from which hangs a syrinx. At base of tree is an s-curved object with one rounded end, one pointed. On its surface are two tear-drop shapes in relief. Rasp marks on drapery surfaces, drill evident in some folds and division between drapery and seat at side and bottom. Flat chisel marks on "crook" at base of tree and roughly finished lion's body.
Material:   Fine-crystalled white marble.
Condition:   Missing parts. Complete from neck to feet. Rt. arm missing from above elbow, lt. arm at shoulder; lt. knee sheered off. Feet and toes damaged. Lion's right front foreleg and plinth under paw missing.
