Description: | Part of neck and forequarters, head turned 3/4 to proper lt. hair shoulder length, plastic ringlets to lt. of face, plain undulating surface in back with vertical incised lines for locks on rt. side. Sternal-mastoid muscles modelled, deep sternal notch somewhat lt. of center. Square chest and shoulders, chest surface modelled, shoulders rounded but not offset by ridge. Lt. side abruptly flat, flaring out slightly at back break poss. for base of wing. Broken along top of shoulder where thickens for wing, broken at back at a wet joint where wing attached. Long oblique pin hole from surface, upper left side to base of locks, L00.10. Head and body hollow, interior irregular with long finger strokes down chest and side. | |
Decoration: | Matt brown paint (5YR 3/2-3/3) on hair with short curls painted on lt. side of neck. At base of neck row of black dots between 2 black stripes, similar band between chest and lt. shoulder running vertically. Scales on chest directed downwards with long stems, long oval shape, in horizontal rows of red with reserved diamond center, then solid black, both outlined by thin reserved stripe. Scales on shoulder and side horizontal. Surface of neck lightly polished. | |
Condition: | Fragment. Five joining frgts., left half and back neck, chest and lt. shoulder, upper lt. side. Surface much chipped, paint worn. | |
