Description: | Flat-bottom aryballos with tiny flaring ring foot, broad flat resting surface, flat undersurface. Attenuated globular body, articulated low shoulder, narrow cylindrical neck H00.012, broad horizontal rim. Vertical strap handle from shoulder to rim. | |
Decoration: | Painted in brown-black glaze, no purple preserved. Foot and resting surface reserved, stripe on interior of foot, dotted circle on undersurface. Stripe at base of body; band of tongues H00.009, stripe above. Broad glazed band on upper half body H00.017, with incised scales, directed downward, each with double incised outline, dot in center; stripe at top; tongues on shoulder; neck, underside of rim reserved. 4 pairs of dots on edge of rim, 3 concentric rings on top of rim. Stripe down either edge of handle, wavy line down back. "Sponge" mark on neck. | |
