Description:   Pyxis with flaring ring foot, flat resting surface. Globular body, flat overhanging rim. Conical lid with concave profile; inward tapering flange set well in from edge. Solid knob a convex disk.
Decoration:   Body: on surface of rim, double dotted band between red lines side of rim red; on wall, top to bottom, row of tongues, the centers painted alternately black and red; triple dotted band; frieze has band with groups of vertical zigzags and patches of dots where the band narrows; double dotted band; one red, one black line; at base double rays, the lower series black the upper in outline. In frieze, siren with open wings to rt., between sirens with each side, bird to rt., lion to lt. Lid: tongues on and around knob; below, double dotted band, frieze with open wings between sphinxes with sickle wings, goat, siren, lion, all left and panther rt. Amyx. Near the Severeanu Painter.
Material:   Gray-green to buff Corinthian clay.
Condition:   Complete or intact. Numerous joining frgts., missing small part of upper body, otherwise complete; lid complete except for small fragments.
