Description: | Squat lekythos with vertical ring foot, flat resting and undersurfaces, necking at juncture to body; attenuated globular body curving in to horizontal shoulder, neck articulated by groove, tapering to base of cone-shaped straight flaring rim with broad flat lip. Vertical strap handle attached to shoulder neck. | |
Decoration: | Black glaze over all except for resting and udnersurfaces, reserved and washed red. Figured scene on body in red-figure: at lt. naked Eros facing rt., bending forward to offer scarf and box to woman at rt. facing lt. Scarf and box decorated with black dots. Woman wears chiton and himation, with column of folds falling down lt. side, hair gathered in knot has white dot earring; white bracelet on rt. arm down at side. Trace of white on Eros' hair - wreath? Reserved outline for heads. Reserved groove at base of neck, on neck black tongues separated by fine black lines ending in dots on reserved ground. Red wash on reserved areas. | |
