Description: | Pointed aryballos wtih tiny ring foot, narrow resting surface, nippled undersurface. Tall ovoid body with max. diam. at H00.033, low rounded shoulder, cylindrical neck H00.012, broad horizontal outturned rim. Vertical strap handle from shoulder to rim. | |
Decoration: | Painted in black glaze, partly fired red. Foot reserved, interior of foot, underside glazed except for nipple. Ring at top of foot. Band of widely spaced rays on lower body H00.0115, 6 concentric glaze rings, reserved band H00.014, with animal frieze, l. to r.: 3 coursing hounds to r., without incision; 2nd and 3rd separated by 3, 4 dots; 6 glaze rings, broad glazed stripe, thin stripe; on shoulder, row of 4 crude spiral hooks to lt. Neck, underside, edge of rim reserved. On rim, 2 glaze rings, 8 rays around mouth, points out. 4 horizontal bands on handle back. | |
