Description:   Upper part of figure of Herakles, under life-size, standing frontal; weight apparently slightly on r. leg; curly hair reaching to nape of neck in back; full curly beard and moustache; high rounded forehead (surface mostly broken away); thick ears ("cauliflower ears" ); thick short neck; wide open eyes with prominent upper lid; flat rounded eyeballs; short thick lips; torso entirely wrapped in thick cloak; few rounded folds; l. arm held down at side, originally probably bent forward slightly at elbow; r. arm sharply bent at elbow and brought across chest under cloak, hand at neck, lightly holding bunch of cloth; lion's skin hanging behind l. shoulder; head down to mid-point of upper arm; eyes closed; thick curly mane; rasp marks visible on drapery; skin surfaces of face carefully smoothed; drill used for a few folds, corners of mouth, maybe nostrils; probably the upper part of a Herm.
